  • Bowl for Kids’ Sake Kicks Off to Start Something Big for Local Youth Facing Adversity
  • Nearly 1,000 Participants are Expected to Participate in One of Pinellas County’s Largest Campaigns
  • Bowl for Kids’ Sake, presented by Bright House Networks, is Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pinellas County’s largest signature campaign of the year. Over the duration of the next month and a half, teams will organize and raise the much needed funds to support the nation’s premier mentoring organization. Big Brothers Big Sisters is actively seeking interested participants to help Start Something Big in the life of a child.

  • Alstott Foundation Hosts Sports Day for Big Brothers Big Sisters
  • More than 200 “Bigs” & “Littles” Enjoyed Alstott Sports Day in St. Petersburg
  • The Mike Alstott Family Foundation hosted their annual “Mike Alstott Family Foundation Sports Day” for children in local Big Brothers Big Sisters programs. Approximately 200 “Bigs” (volunteers) and “Littles” (children) from Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies from Pinellas County, Tampa Bay, and the Sun Coast participated in the event. The event was held at St. Petersburg Catholic High School, where Mike Alstott coaches football.

    This January, as part of National Mentoring Month, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pinellas County honors people in the local community who make one-to-one mentoring successful the volunteers, donors, parents and staff members who work together to provide careful mentor matching and support services for children who face adversity. Youth served by Big Brothers Big Sisters are primarily children of single, low-income or incarcerated parents or they are in military families or are coping with other challenges. Big Brothers Big Sisters is a lead partner in National Mentoring Month, which is spearheaded by the Harvard Mentoring Project of the Harvard School of Public Health, MENTOR/National Mentoring Partnership, and the Corporation for National and Community Service.

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters Receives 86 Applications for Male Mentors
  • 86 Men have Committed to Start Something for Local Boys
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pinellas County is pleased to announce that 86 applications were received from male volunteers in the community. This is the first step to becoming a “Big”, or a mentor for a boy in our community. There were also nearly twice that amount of volunteer inquiries from men, who will hopefully submit their applications soon.

    The recent surge in male applications is due to the “100 Men in 100 Days” campaign than ran from June 1 through September 8th.

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters Receives Grant from Wells Fargo
  • Check Presented at Campbell Park Elementary
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pinellas County is pleased to announce that Wells Fargo has awarded the agency a grant in the amount of $10,000. A check presentation took place on Wednesday, September 7th, at 10:00am.  The presentation was held on the campus of Campbell Park Elementary, in St. Petersburg.
